Day 6: Laramie WY to Rock Springs WY

September 7, 2008
Day miles: 245
Trip miles: 1,487

The weather has been great - another cool (almost cold) morning with crisp clear air. As we started out we saw snow-capped mountains far to the south. You can barely see them in the picture. (click pictures to enlarge)    Wyoming has to be one of the safest places to ride a motorcycle - especially on the type of road we have travelled.  Flat, straight, open, no traffic.  It would be very boring except that the landscape is beautiful (the two pictures here do not do justice to the landscape).

For some reason Medicine Bow seemed familiar. Do I know someone who lived there?  Did I see something about that in a movie or on TV?  I can't remember, but I had to have my picture taken by the sign.  Sunset Cottages (sign is to the left, partially cut off in the picture) probably served travellers in an earlier time.  We decided against checking for vacancies!

I read about an abandoned stage coach stop located just outside Rock Springs.  We took a short detour that involved navigating on a dirt road and found the place - complete with the remains of some animal!!!  At first it seemed like someone planted the bones there, but I think they were genuine.  This place is not a tourist trap!

While we were at the ruins, some strange mountain man appeared with a skull on his head.
